High Atlas Berber Village Trek
Do you feel like you are in a different century in the Marrakech medina? Think again! You must check out the remote Berber villages of the High Atlas Mountains. Only a stones throw away from the hectic city, here you will have the opportunity to see a more simple way of life in the Azzaden Valley, relatively untouched by modern society, where traditional lifestyles still persist. This two day guided mountain hike is an absolutely worthwhile trip to see a different side of Morocco. Spending one night in a remote mountain valley, you will have an eyeopening experience, giving you the opportunity to see a more traditional way of life on foot in the raw beauty of the Atlas Mountain valleys. You will get to experience the true hospitality of the Moroccan people not found in the cities.

Itinerary
Day one: Our driver will pick you up from your accommodation in Marrakech, and take you to the starting point of your High Atlas Mountain trek; Imlil village. The drive takes approximately 1hour 30minutes. You will get to know your team over a sweet cup of mint tea, and then you will all set of trekking uphill to a pass which is called Tizi n’Tacht from where you will get amazing views over the Azzden valley. Take a short break on the pass before you carry on walking downhill to reach a rough road that will lead you to the Azzaden valley; you will pass by many isolated Berber villages such as Tahliouine. Lunch will be served on the way before you reach the destination village; Tizi Oussem. There you will spend the night at a lodge. The first day will require about 5 hours of walking.
Day two: You will be awoken early to a delicious local breakfast, to fuel you for your hike towards Tizi Mezik pass. It is a gentle but continuous uphill, from where you will get breathtaking views over both the Azzaden valley and Imlil valley. Then, you continue walking downhill to Imlil village (1740m) where you will have a delicious, well-deserved lunch at a guesthouse before your transfer back to Marrakech. After lunch, there will be an additional option to walk around the Imlil Valley. In total, you will be walking for around 5 hours. At the end of the day, you will be driven back to your accommodation in Marrakech.

Cultural considerations
Rural Moroccans still live a traditional way of life. So it is advised to dress a little more conservative than you are used to. For women, this means that shoulder, chest and knees are covered, and for men, shoulders and knees. It will also protect you from the hot sun, and help you to stay cooler. Luggage Your luggage for the trip will be carried my mules, to help take the weight off your shoulders.
